DISCIPLESHIP LIVING PLAN

The 12-month Discipleship Living Plan (DLP) is broken down into four phases and provides students the opportunity to develop a stronger understanding of who they are in Christ, to mature in their faith, to seek His will and direction for their lives, as they train to be a disciple who models Christ’s ministry wherever they are called to serve. Freedom Lake’s services provide a holistic approach with the biblical and vocational training tools for students to lead a healthy and productive life after completing the discipleship program. This retreat setting is meant to be a temptation-free safe place so they can be fully immersed in the training curriculum and build relationships within the discipleship community.

Discipleship Lodge

During their 12-month stay, the ministry provides these men with furnished housing complete with linens, blankets, and pillows; bathroom towels and wash cloths; personal hygiene supplies; household cleaning supplies; clothing; food; transportation; assistance with health coverage and medical needs; assistance with legal counseling; accountability; individual and group MENtoring; spiritual guidance; and vocational and educational training.

In addition, during their 12-month stay, the participants’ program fees are waived and men are not required to seek full-time employment. Men are provided wages for work on the property to help them keep up with any outstanding financial obligations and to help them begin working on their personal savings plan while learning to balance spiritual growth with practical living skills.

PHASE ONE – ADJUSTING TO NEW LIFE & CONTINUED SPIRITUAL GROWTH

Phase One serves as an intermediary step to give men time to adjust to a new way of life. Men learn to balance spiritual growth with practical living through a Christ-centered decision-making process they can use to navigate life.

Students experience the joy of personal revival by seeking Him through a 12-week interactive discipleship study that will help them go deeper with God, and experience Christ’s grace and empowerment in every area of their lives.

PHASE TWO – SEEKING GOD’S WILL & DIRECTION

In Phase Two, teachers and students explore the six guiding principles for knowing God’s will for each man’s life.

Students spend 40 minutes a day with God for 40 days, intentionally positioning themselves to hear from Him. Forty minutes a day of prayer, study, and allowing God’s Word to bring transformation can lead to a radically changed life. Students learn how to effectively spend time with God by developing the 3 HABITS that all Christians need to develop to grow spiritually.

PHASE THREE – VOCATIONAL TRAINING/PREPARING FOR YOUR MISSION FIELD

In Phase Three, students prepare for marketplace ministry or full-time missionary work – wherever God has called them to be on mission. Men learn the tools to combine their passion for fulfilling the Great Commission with their God-given vocation.

Men called to a vocation will use the Career Planning Workbook to help them to develop the skills needed to obtain employment. Men called to full-time missions apply to become full-time missionaries with a missionary organization fully devoted to the Disciple Making Movement (DMM) that sends out missionaries to complete the Great Commission.

PHASE FOUR – PREPARING FOR GRADUATION/LAUNCH

In Phase Four, men called to become full-time missionaries begin their training to prepare them for the mission field. Men called to a vocation begin seeking quality permanent full-time employment through one of Freedom Lake’s approved Christian business partners.

Students meet weekly during this time with qualified staff and/or volunteers to review their budget needs, create a budget, get financial coaching, set up life insurance and retirement, and begin working on their personal savings plan for a fresh start.

Graduates who complete their training at Freedom Lake will be launched as godly leaders into the communities in which they live and serve, regardless of their vocation.
