THE DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING
Phase One of the Discipleship Pathway is launched within the prison system, specifically at a low-security facility in Kentucky. In partnership with the facility’s Substance Abuse Program (SAP), which lasts a minimum of 183 days, our ministry focuses on men mandated to undergo this program. Alongside SAP programming, we offer voluntary participation in 3Thirds Discipleship Training, fellowship activities, and Christ-centered guidance. Through this collaborative effort, we aim to provide holistic support, addressing both the practical aspects of substance abuse recovery and the spiritual journey towards transformation in Christ.
During this phase, the primary objective is to introduce men to Jesus and support their exploration of Christian discipleship. They’re encouraged to embrace Christ’s transformative power and navigate their journey as disciples, guided by the Holy Spirit. Through deep dives into Scripture, participants confront their inner struggles, recognizing substance abuse as a symptom of deeper spiritual voids. They learn to seek God’s will, resist worldly influences, and as they progress, are invited to mentor others, fostering their own spiritual growth.
Many of the men we serve have not experienced a deep connection with Christ. We address more than addiction; we delve into the underlying heart issues fueling substance abuse, guiding them through understanding God’s Word to uncover the root causes of their struggles.
Substance abuse is a symptom of deeper heart issues, not the root problem. Our ministry guides men to confront these issues and find healing through Christ. By nurturing a genuine relationship with Jesus and teaching biblical principles, they learn their need for a Savior and that Jesus alone can break their chains of addiction and empower them to live in alignment with His purpose.
